Are these really the best of 2009? Hmmmm…
As usual, I included plenty of singer-songwriter types. But there’s also some modern rock, classic rock, art-folk, polka, whatever. Maybe not too much polka now that I look at it. I’m sure there are plenty of other good albums out there that were released this year, but maybe I just didn’t hear them. Anyway, here are eight 2009 releases that I like a lot and some other ones that are worth listening to also. Am I crazy (again) or did I get it exactly right this year?
The top eight, not necessarily in order of greatness, after the jump:
A Fine Frenzy – Bomb In A Birdcage
Beatles – Stereo Box Set
Brandi Carlile – Give Up The Ghost
Decemberists – The Hazards Of Love
Green Day – 21st Century Breakdown
Ingrid Michaelson – Everybody
Metric – Fantasies
Regina Spektor – Far
And some others that I enjoyed too:
David Bazan – Curse Your Branches
Elvis Costello – Secret, Profane, and Sugarcane
John Wesley Harding – Who Was Changed And Who Was Dead
Neil Young – Archives Vol 1
Neko Case – Middle Cyclone
Pretenders – Break Up The Concrete
Prince – Lotusflow3r/MPLSSound/Elixer
Tom Waits – Glitter And Doom Live
U2 – No Line On The Horizon
What did I miss? Give me your choices and tell me what you think about mine. Help a brother out…
I’ll agree with The Beatles box set. I haven’t heard the other entries on your list. My vote:
The Horrors – Primary Colours
Arctic Monkeys – Humbug
Echo & The Bunnymen – The Fountain
I haven’t gotten that Arctic Monkeys CD yet. I like their other two though…
I like this blog, mostly because Green Day rocks!
U2 you ROCK! More songs, more concerts….please!
