Fifth trip to the gym. Also, talked to granddaughter Josephine in Florida. It was sad but at the same time great to talk to her.
Watched Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood DVD. Good movie with a good cast. Recommended.

No time for the gym today, but we did go three times in five days. Not bad. Had to skip it today due to a medical appointment and Petra'a delicious (wo)manicotti. It's manicotti made by a woman, get it? Most excellent. Now I really need to go to the gym! Tomorrow is another day, as a man with a calendar once said.
I don't watch much television but I watched Scrubs tonight. I always forget when it is on, but I somehow remembered tonight. It's easily the best comedy on TV, not counting Seinfeld reruns of course.
A few updates made to the friends page as likes and dislikes start coming in. But still no chioice on a domain name for the site.

Ah, no work today. It's our regular every-other-friday day off. I worked on the web site a little today but still have a long way to go. The email form is now working, try it out. Also, some updates were made to these pages:
about the site, hobbies/books, hobbies/computers, the home page, hobbies, links, and the contact form.
I never thought I would do it. But I did. We joined a gym, specifically Gold's Gym in Natomas. It was time, we're not getting any younger and I'd just as soon be a little heathier. We'll see how it goes. I don't think we'll ever look like the young hotties on their web site! Today was our first visit, we mainly worked on cardio - treadmill and bikes. Not bad at all, watched music videos the whole time and it went by very fast. Of course, we had to treat ourselves afterward to a smoothie at Jamba Juice.

Tomorrow is bosses day so we took the boss (Janice) out to lunch today. We went to P.F. Chang's, a nice yuppie chinese place. Great food, it's a chain but I still recommend it.
Had dinner with friends Karl and Betty. They recently returned from a 12-day cruise to Hawaii. We went to 524 restaurant on Northgate. No atmosphere but cheap and good mexican food.

Went to a new restaraunt tonight, Zocalo, in the midtown area. Good food, if a bit pricy. Mexican but not traditional. Not the best I've ever had, but still good. We met with friends Larry and Robin to discuss an all-inclusive vacation next spring. At this point it looks like it could be Jamaica but nothing is final yet.

Today was the final presidential debate. Once again, John Kerry showed himself to not only be the better speaker but by far the better candidate. Bush seems to think that if he calls his opponent liberal enough times it will explain his (Bush's) awful record as president the last four years. Massive job losses, over a thousand US lifes lost and over 100 billion (!) spent on a deceitful and worsening war in Iraq, millions losing their heath insurance, America being disliked and distrusted in much of the world, am growing divide between the haves and the have-nots, greed and big rewards for the wealthy and the big corporations (Haliburton, etc), the list goes on and on. I have a one-point plan to improve America. Vote Bush out of office in 2004!

Back to work after a really nice four-day weekend. Argh! I think what I need is a forty-day weekend...
- Sunday, October 10, 2004 -
Our friend Laura, wife of Cal, had her 50th birthday party today. Lots of wine, food, and fun. We stayed a little later than we planned. Most people brought Laura a bottle of wine for her birthday. I guess we all know what she likes! Happy Bithday, Laura!
Then we attended the first Sacramento Kings exhibition game this season. The columnist for the local paper said they were "a little flat". He was being kind. They had their moments but they really did not gel. More practice please.

Today was the first annual Sacramento Art and Wine Festival. Lots of local art and crafts, some food, and a LOT of wine. Yow! Must have been thirty or forty wineries, all offering plentiful samples. That certainly put the day into perspective. We had dinner at Isabella's on 2st Street. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The Sacramento Kings Fandemonium event. In a way, more hype than actual event, but still fun to see the Kings goofing around and the new guys dunking and working on their alley-oops. A little teaser for the upcoming season. First exhibition game is Sunday, October 10.
Also, Petra's new laptop computer arrived today. She is pretty excited about it and so am I. Very nice, sleek, and light machine. We set up a wireless network so the laptop could share our cable broadband internet without any cables or wires. Pretty cool, huh? We are officially two geeks. And her new personal web site, petra-b.com, is now up and running.
And also, the second presidential debate. It still amazes me how much of a narrow-minded doofus that Bush is. Kerry is clearly a lot more intelligent. Bush was like a little kid, losing his cool and calling Kerry names. How can we have a president who acts like a grade-schooler? Of course, he was even worse in the first debate so I guess there was some improvement. Sheesh! And Bush is so stubborn and determined to be right that he would never admit a mistake, even though the majority of the country sees what a mess the Iraq situation obviously is. Remember to vote for John Kerry on November 2. Please!
