George Harrison once wrote a song called “All Things Must Pass”. And so it is true. After a very lengthy career, it turns out that I will be retiring later in the year (and there was much rejoicing!). I am SO looking forward to it, but of course after all these years there are some things I will miss. This series of posts will mention a few of those items.
First, though not necessarily most important, is the view from my office. Click on the picture to see it larger. Now, tell me, is that a great view? There was even a rainbow the day I took this photo. And that’s just one direction! I am in a corner office (ok, cubicle) so there’s a great view to the side too. But this view is the best. Somewhere out that direction is my house, see if you can spot it!
Don’t get me wrong, I do like my job most of the time. But enough is enough. It’s time to move into another phase of my life, one with more free time. But I sure will miss that view! 😉
How can you be retired when you were never tired to begin with? Also how can you retire before me…I’m older than you? So now you’ll have more time to travel…can you say Milwaukee? Congratulations.
Your jealous friend,
Dean
Congradulations!!! I am jealous. My goal at one time was to retire at the same age my favorite uncle retired at. 52 – well after the steel mill closed its door – I found a new but less paying job – got married – and now have a 5 year old – those plans are out the door! I’ll probably retire at 72!! Well maybe not that old – it has been worht it all. Congradulations again. You will have to swing by Princeton again sometime. Jim and Virginia had a 17 years ago – XTC covention party the other day. Hard to believe it has been that long ago. Maybe we will have to have a 20 years aniversary convention!!
Later,
Jeff
Thanks guys. Yeah, Jeff, a 2oth annniversary convention sounds like a blast! And Dean, we WILL get to Milwaukee one of these days, just don’t know when. Myabe around the 20th anniversary XTC convention 😉 Of course, we do have a spare room here in sunny California if your boot heels get to wanderin’.
