We had the grandkids again part of the weekend. I finally finished building the playset in the backyard and they loved playing on it. The middle one called it 'her park'.

Kings playoff game number four was tonight. They played an excellent game and blew out the world champion Spurs to even the best-of-seven series at two games each. Yow!!

Kings playoff game number three. They lost the first two, on the road. This one was at home and they won! They played hard and Kevin Martin won the game at the final buzzer with a great layup! Go Kings!!

Another birthday? Yep. Happy Birthday to ex-sister-in-law Connie.

Meanwhile, King George's popularity keeps sinking like a rock. His incompetence becomes more obvious, if that is even possible. His scandal-plagued and corrupt administration unravels like old rope, with rats and Republicans alike running from his sinking ship. This candid photo shows his reaction to these events. Saw faster, George.

Sunday April 23, 2006 -
The grandkids headed home. Like tazmanian devils but a lot cuter. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to sister Steph. Yay!!

Friday April 21, 2006 -
The grandkids came to visit for part of the weekend. The play structure aka swingset isn't done being assembled yet, partly due to a lot of rainy days, but man did they want to play on it. Hopefully by next weekend it will be done.

Larry and Robin leave our house and head back to Santa Cruz. Happy trails...

Tuesday April 18, 2006 -
Last Kings game of the regular season and they won it. The grabbed the eight seed (last seed) in the playoffs and will play defending champs the San Antonio Spurs. Starting on Saturday, the real work begins.

Petra and I, along with Larry and Robin went to a movie. We saw Thank You For Smoking. It was very funny, satirical and clever. One reviewer said this: "Very smart, funny and interesting movie. I seldom say that about any movie. The story of a lobbyist for the tobacco industry who's job is to put a spin on cigarettes, improve their image, make them cool again, and prevent one senator from getting legislature to mandate that cigarette companies place a large graphic skull and cross bones on each pack sold. Nick Naylors character is brilliant. While he was 'selling' the public on his ideas and views and convincing them, his own son, and everyone else that he is correct he actually sold me too with his good looks, charm, and logic. Everyone knows that smoking causes cancer and anyone who attempts to sell or promote it won't garner any sympathy for lagging sales. That's where the spin doctor Nick comes in... Excellent movie." Check out the great web site for the movie, make sure the sound is on.

Also, Larry and I completed Phase One of building the playground aka swingset aka big job for the grandkids. Only eighteen phases to go!

Kings game tonight. They won!

Saturday April 15, 2006 -
Larry, Robin, Cal, and Laura and Petra and I went on a wine limo trip. We caught the limo at Cal's house and it took us back there six or seven hours later. In between we rode up to the Amador County area and visited some wineries. The wineries there are known for their excellent Zinfandels but most have other types too. We had wine futures that we bought last year to pick up at Toscano and Story, and Toscano provided us a free unlimited lunch/dinner (with a bottle of wine) for our purchase. Besides those two we went to Dobra, Shenandoah, Montevina, and Bray wineries. Lots of tasting and talking, it was a lot of fun!

Friday April 14, 2006 -
Larry and Robin came back into today town to stay with us for an extended weekend. We have a wine trip and two Kings games coming up this 'weekend', so they are staying and visiting in-between. Tonight before we took the grandkids home, the six of us went out to Olive Garden for a nice Italian food dinner. It was crowded as usual on the weekend but the wait wasn't too bad, the food was good, and the kids behaved pretty well. We didn't get them home until about 9:00 PM but they were fine and we all had a good time.

Thursday April 13, 2006 -
We had the grandkids tonight again. Grampa read them a story and it brought down the house. Yes, The Great Honey Hunt must be a classic, as far as they know.

Tuesday April 11, 2006 -
We didn't go to the Kings game tonight or even watch it on cable. They had a huge lead at halftime and ended up losing. Argh! Or should I say ugh!

Sunday April 9, 2006 -
We took the grandkids home and then in the evening went to the Sacramento Kings game. They are *this* close to securing a playoff spot.

Saturday April 8, 2006 -
We had the grandkids today, cute as usual. In fact, we had everyone, since the daughter and boyfriend stayed for most of the day too. They wanted to get their laundry done and visit and both happened. The daughter actually made us dinner, an old favorite of hers (and ours) called Chili Choke Pasta. We hadn't eaten that since before she moved out and it was very good. She hadn't eaten it since before then either, so it was kind of cool that we had it. A bit of normalcy returning. Bit by bit.

Friday April 7, 2006 -
Petra had another appointment with the reconstructive surgeon and he added another ounce of fluid. Ouch! Later, the daughter and I took her car in for a quick oil change. Gotta keep that car running so we sprung for the cost, pretty cheap actually.

Monday April 3, 2006 -
Larry and Robin head back to their villa in Santa Cruz. I head back to work. What's wrong there?

Sunday April 2, 2006 -
We had an nice dinner at 524 Mexican Food with Karl, Betty, Larry, and Robin. Karl and Betty mentioned that they may be moving, which is kind of depressing since they are friends. Karl is paranoid about what he sees as the upcoming great flood. The rest of the city has not reached his state of panic yet. But the food was good and the company. Then we all went to the Kings game and saw the Kings win!

Here is a great photo of the leaker-in-chief and his evil assistant:

April fools day. No, I don't mean King George, the one in the White House. He's busy leaking information to destroy his political enemies and cover up his lies about the Iraq invasion. So we won't talk about him today. Let's just hope he is not tapping our phone without a warrant!

Anyway, the grandkids spent the night last night, and Larry and Robin are here so we have a full house but it's a good thing. The kids really like L&R and everyone seemed pleased. I had to leave for part of the day to help move my grandmother's belongings. She can't really care for herself and was moved from an apartment into a care facility (again). I think and hope that this time she realizes that she needs the care. Hopefully she will accept it and stop causing my parents so much stress, they certainly don't need it.
